About Us

In year 2007 a group of BPKIHS Students led by Dr. Madhur Basnet founded the student’s chapter at this institute, expanding the student’s participation in the movement. We have formed student circle that share similar ideas and share commitment to theme of IPPNW and PSRN. We are advocating social justice, which can only be achieved with equitable distribution of resources and peoples participation in decision making. We prefer to maintain and promote health rather than only focusing in cure of disease. We are conducting various awareness prorams and intellectual discourse in community and institute, as per theme of our movement.

Health in real sense can be achieved only with sociopolitical transformation. We encourage all health professionals to be socially responsible and accountable in order to preserve and promote social health. The current trend of unregulated privatization in sector of health and education is against the concept of health as human right. Corporatization and globalization has put health of people in sale. As someone said "I believe in people. People´s health is safest in people´s hand. The objective is to empower individuals and communities with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve health for themselves” We advocate for health as human right and it is state’s responsibility. And maximum community participation to be secured. Rather than importing expensive treatment from foreign market emphasis should be given in building health with community participation, which is not only economical but also promising for long future.

Similarly we believe that peace can’t be substantiated in any society, culture and country without true democracy, free and empowered people with self determination, social justice and equality. So we are against forced peace and forced conflict. Forced peace breads fatalism, individual and social inertia, general discontent and even crisis generating disruption of societies and countries from inside. As affiliate of IPPNW we are against any form of nuclear weapons for any cause as it is greatest threat to world peace. Nuclear weapon is developed by powerful countries for their quest of dominating and colonizing other nations. Different countries now purifying uranium and building nuclear weapon for defense too, leading to vicious cycle effect and threatening existence of entire humanity.
